Lingti Valley Trek & Spiti Valley (13 Days)
Day 1: Arrival at New Delhi
Arrival at New Delhi airport, assistance upon arrival and transfer to your hotel. Welcome dinner at a typical Indian restaurant. Overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 2: New Delhi-Manali
After breakfast an excursion visit to New Delhi. Lunch in the suburbs of New Delhi and an early evening. Bus travel to Manali (2x2 Luxury Coach Volvo). Bus passes through the fertile states of Haryana and Punjab before entering the Shivalik Hills where you can see the Himalayas. 13-14 hours' journey.
Day 3: Arrival at Manali (2050 m)
Early morning arrival at Manali, assistance upon arrival and transfer to your hotel. Afternoon at leisure and a visit to Naggar Castle, which was once the princely state of Himachal. Visit Hadimba temple known as a local deity of the people of Manali and its surrounding villages. Dinner at Naggar Castle. Overnight stay at a hotel in Manali.
Day 4: Manali-Rangrik (3400 m)
After breakfast drive towards Rangrik. The road passes through Rohtangla (3980 m). This road is a lifeline between Lahaul Spiti and the Kullu valley. This road is closed for about six months due to heavy snow. You will see some beautiful scenery of the Kullu valley from Rohtang La. After crossing Rohtang La, the roads get narrow. We enter Spiti Valley by crossing over Kunzam la (4550 m). Once you reach the check-post, your passports and your inner line permits will be entered. Overnight stay at a camp.
Day 5: Rangrik-Langza (4200 m)
The trek to Langza is a very steep climb. It is hard to walk on some of the harsh terrains of the cold desert. It is about a 10 km walk which can be strenuous. Reach Langza, a small village famous for its oldest monastery which is now in bad shape and a few houses in the village. We camp just near those houses.
Day 6: Langza-Comic (4278 m)
A comfortable walk today for about 5-6 hours. We cross through some of the highest villages of the region before reaching the Comic monastery. The interesting thing about this monastery is that there are two monastery complexes (the new one and the older one). In the old complex, women are not allowed. We camp ahead of the monastery in a grassy cliff. The night can be much colder than expected.
Day 7: Comic-Demul (4300 m)
We cross a small pass today (Demul pass 4368 m), a real short day today. Walking of about 3-4 hours to reach a beautiful campsite. Evening at leisure as we camp just a little before the Demul village, (the highest village in the region at 4300 m). (B/L/D)
Day 8: Demul- Lalung-Dhankar (3400 m)
Today is our last day of the trek. We walk steeply downwards to the hill to reach Lalung where our vehicles will be waiting for us. We drive in our car and say goodbye to our pony men. We visit the Lalung Monastery and then Dhankar Monastery. Overnight stay at a beautiful campsite near the Spiti river. (B/L/D)
Day 9: Tabo (3050 m)
Tabo is known to be the Ajanta of the Himalayas. This monastery was founded in 996 A.D. and is famous for its wall painting. It is said to be the only monastery after Tibet to have such paintings in the complex. It has in total of nine temples and 21 chortens. A fascinating monument to visit. Overnight stay in a small guest house. (B/L/D)
Day 10: Tabo-Chandertal-Dadarpul (2600 m)
Long drive today. Crossing the Kunzam La (4551 m), we drive to Chandertal known as the moon lake (4200 m). We see many shepherds who come with their flock during summers to this beautiful valley for grazing. Overnight stay at Dadarpul campsite. (B/L/D)
Day 11: Manali
Drive to Manali (5-6 hours’ drive) will take you over Rohtang la (3980 m). On reaching Manali, transfer to your hotel and evening at leisure. (B/L/D)
Day 12: Manali-New Delhi
Visit Naggar Castle, Roerich art gallery, Hindu temples, and monastery. Evening bus to New Delhi. (B/L)
Day 13: Arrival at New Delhi & Departure to Airport
Early morning arrival to New Delhi. Move to your hotel. Afternoon at leisure and late-night departure to the International Airport. (B/L)
Option Day 14 & 15 to Taj Mahal & Agra fort.
